Job Title: Field Electrical Engineer

Schedule: Monday – Friday (weekends as needed)

Location: Baton Rouge and various location along the Gulf Coast

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Understand type of relay and test procedure needed
  • Isolate device successfully from system for testing
  • Able to return relay into the system without incident
  • Utilize test set, proper software, and steps to maintain relay integrity
  • Understand digital logic and decipher/follow logic diagrams
  • Understand protection schemes/zones of protection
  • Complete DFR, SCADA, communications
  • Develop and repair relay test routines
  • Develop relay settings and program relays
  • Understand electrical testing and test results
  • Issue field service reports

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required
  • Prior industrial/substation electrical experience is preferred
  • Preferred knowledge of Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, ENOSERV RTS
  • CDL or Chauffer’s license is preferred – ability to effectively pull a trailer
  • Utilize PPE and safety equipment as required per task
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to acquire a TWIC card
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematic drawings
  • Participate in job safety analysis, behavioral based safety observations, and all other Safety, Health and Environmental Processes.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly, independently, safely lift and carry objects up to 5 feet long and weighing up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds occasionally, climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis, stand, walk, talk, see (20/20 vision naturally or corrected), hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities.
  • Work involves some travel to various job locations
  • Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including excessive heat and cold, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes, oils, wear a portable respirator.
  • Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new construction worksite (i.e. uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, construction debris and poor lighting).
