Schedule:  Monday – Friday (weekends as needed)

Location:  Various across Southeast Louisiana

 

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Low & Medium Voltage Breaker Overhaul (<15kV)
    • Perform initial inspection and functioning of breaker manually and/or electrically.                                                                             
    • Recognize and correct minor issues.                                                                       
    • Understand how breakers and switchgear operate and read schematics, drawings, manuals                                                                          
    • Retrofit LV breakers with upgrades (i.e. trip units, coils, interlocks and know proper procedures).                
    • Perform Class 1, 2, 3 level breaker reconditions
  • Low & Medium Voltage Breaker Testing
    • Identify and record breaker information, name plate, voltage, amperage and type/style                                                                 
    • Understand how to properly isolate/rack out breaker for PM and testing.                              
    • Understand how to define and perform testing procedures (maintenance, commission, single failure) NETA                                                                    
    • Record and create database of equipment and test results                                                           
    • NETA Level 3 / NICET Technician Level 3 is preferred                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3 or more years of prior industrial/substation electrical experience is preferred
  • CDL or Chauffer’s license is preferred – ability to effectively pull a trailer
  • Utilize PPE and safety equipment as required per task
  • Must be able to acquire a TWIC certification
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematic drawings
  • Work various job locations throughout the week
  • Participate in job safety analysis, behavioral based safety observations, and all other Safety, Health and Environmental Processes.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly, independently, safely lift and carry objects up to 5 feet long and weighing up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds occasionally, climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis, stand, walk, talk, see (20/20 vision naturally or corrected), hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities.
  • Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including excessive heat and cold, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes, oils, wear a portable respirator.
  • Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new construction worksite (i.e. uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, construction debris and poor lighting).

 

Candidates will be required to pass:

  • Drug & Alcohol Test
  • Physical, Agility, and Respirator Fit Test
