Job Title: Industrial Journeyman Electrician

Schedule: Monday – Friday (weekends as needed)

Location: Various

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Install conduit and cable tray raceways and supports efficiently and safely.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor electrical apprentices.
  • Plans the layout and wiring of new or modified installations.
  • Selects, installs, and pulls wiring to the required equipment locations.
  • Install and repair power controls, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, light switches, light fixtures, electrical wiring, fuses, and other components of an electrical system.
  • Completes all written and/or electronic records (i.e. work orders, calibration sheets, timecards, material requests) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed.
  • Performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Keeps work area clean and in orderly condition.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 5 or more years of prior industrial electrical experience is required.
  • Ability to fabricate and install conduit, cable tray and supports.
  • Ability to install wire and cable by hand and/or by mechanical means in cable trays.
  • Install batteries, battery charger, buss duct, junction boxes, tagging, terminations, motors, and transformers.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in written reports, condition of equipment and status of jobs to supervision, operations, and other craft personnel and outside service representatives.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and flexibility to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret instruction manuals, blueprints, and control system drawings.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly, independently, safely lift and carry objects up to 5 feet long and weighing up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds occasionally, climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis, stand, walk, talk, see (20/20 vision naturally or corrected), hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities.
  • Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including excessive heat and cold, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes, oils, wear a portable respirator.
  • Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new construction worksite (i.e. uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, construction debris and poor lighting).
